March Against the far Right

London, 28 March 2026

On March 28, 2026, I attended the London March Against the Far Right, organised by the Together Alliance, a broad civil society coalition backed by political parties, trade unions, charities, faith groups, environmental activists, public figures and celebrities.

Once again, I found myself in a demonstration defending basic rights and social liberties: standing against fascism and racism, in support of feminism, and in favour of welcoming immigrants and their (our) rights. And yes, also against the galloping wave of right-wing politics that threatens to sweep across our lives with a rising tide of authoritarianism.

I am 60, I was born in Barcelona under the Franco regime, and it feels like I have spent a lifetime attending the same demonstration. This time, I took my camera with me…

What stood out this time was the variations of flags, flying declarations of identity and belonging. Flags to affirm, flags to challenge, flags to embrace, flags to reject; symbols of love, of resistance, of community and/or hope. They were all there. Capture the Flag!

There was a moment of tension. As the march set off, a small group of demonstrators, identifying as pro-Israel/USA war, confronted participants with a familiar ultraconservative look & feel. The situation did not escalate, though I captured a few images of the exchange; an emotive storm in a teacup that did not define the overall atmosphere of the day.

In the end, it was a powerful and peaceful demonstration. A reminder that collective voices still matter. Or, as they say: “¡No pasarán!”
